The second session

Actually, I spend some time in my hometown. I´ve met my family after a long time and some old friends too. We have a really nice time and played a lot of games ( Enslaved, Castlevania, Halo ODST (only horde; storymode really sucks in my eyes), Limbo, Starcraft2, Age of Empires and HardIImorrow ;) ).
Today, I´ve sculped a bit on my Maori. The problem I got, is the same problem my freelance-teammate and ex-classmate Gil Salvado has. After leaving school, we´ve to work on our old laptops. 1 million polys are a bit to hard for our babys. So sculpting was not that funny. But here´s the product of this day:

I´m really, really missing my girlfriend. She stayed in Berlin cause of her art and animation study. So I think I´ll travel back as soon as possible, cause I feel incomplete without her beatyfull smiling by my side.

took me some time...

Actually I´m not able to show some of my freelance stuff. Valido, isn´t released yet. And cause it´s about a month ago, I did post the last time, I took me some time yesterday, in order to start a little sculpting project.
Here you can see the unfinished head sculpt of my maori hero.
I´ve read some maori mythology and imagined to build a ocean scene, where the young man is riding on a giant angler-fish.
yes, I´ll also finish the promissed fatty-head, but at present I feel more addicted by this sculpt...

Head up!

Found some old heads. They are okay but not portfolio relevant. Textured one was my modeling exam (first semester). The polycount sux (it was allowed to use one smooth) and the texture was created by copy/pasting some photos i have overworked. The old fatty is a sculpt in early progress. I think I´ll get this thing finished. Especially retopo will be a good exercise.

Missing in action

Just wanted to arrange a few models of "Abaddons Erbe", the project we´ve been working on during our last semester. And here they are. These are the weapons ( I´ve got about 30 untextured weapons on reserve for boring times ) and my forge ( masterlayer texture by Martin Kepplinger ) I created for that roguelike. Maybe I am able to use it for my portfolio. Engine shots are really significant, cause in the end your product has to look fine ingame. But for a better presentation of my work, I will create a few wireframe pics and a overview of the textures.

At present, I´m doing some stily, solid env. models. Its for a freelance deal. We got the graphicpitch for a Swiss rehabilition company called Hocoma. Later on I will show you some graphic stuff of this so called exercises, but I´m restricted by the NDA at present. And i don´t wanne mess with Swiss guys: they have got bottlenecks ( don´t wonder. Just watched a documentation about the battle of termopyle and bottlenecks are godlike. As long as your enemy doesn´t own you with air support. :))...

This is what i rendered in 3ds-Max. I think Maya is the winner. But maybe i´m just a noob in Max :)

Finally

Not really ready (no windows, no doors and no blacklight crime scene with splatter emissive) but ready with motivation. Last thing i have to do, is to setup my scene in Max... hope to get a nice shot like i did in Maya.

Preview: Ending

Graduation is near and tomorrow will be the last school day. I´m doing a bit on my modeling exam. This picture is a rendershot of my woodplank texture and the try to create a nice decent leather (can´t handle the spec).

It´s for "a room with stairs". Thats the challange we got from our modeling docent Sascha Henrichs. We have the limitation of using 5 1K textures and less than 20000 polys. 4 tileable textures for the environment and a unique one for the props. Modeling and texturing software free chooseable but rendering and lighting in 3ds-Max. I´m a bit late. It has to be ready tomorrow. But theres not so much to do to get it done... i hope. And I´ve got a plan! I decided to take a very clean setting. I used a oilpaintig of Jeremy Geddes as reference.

Wanne create a horror crime scene on top of his base. This scene should be a blacklight scene (lighting, this is a thing i got no plan for....especially in max), where the player starts upstairs in a very clean room. Instinctly he will go down the stairs passing some scary pictures and then he will look right because there is a corner. Corners are interesting ;). And there, in the corner, he will see the bloody mess visualiced by splatter emmissives. Just like a scene of ciminal intend or room raiders.

I think i´ll get this done today and i hope to resist this Starcraft 2-lan at Games Academy... But now I go sleep. Been awake since 2 days :) see ya later with more final-exam stuff and informations about the corner..... i hope...
